Volunteer instructors are needed for this weekly catechetical program for K-12 students. Students attend grade-specific classes, which are taught by volunteer instructors. The Parish School of Religion provides valuable catechesis, as well as a fun and friendly environment in which they can socialize and learn together with their peers. Our mission is to ensure the Lord’s house is always clean. A team of volunteers meets each Saturday morning at 9 am on a rotating basis. Some of the various tasks include sweeping, vacuuming, organizing and dusting. This ministry is great for families including those with middle and high school students. Patty Wilson: 316-200-1268
Maintain the gardens around the church, rectory, grotto, and the school. Tasks include planning, planting, and maintaining flowers, bushes and trees in the gardens and on the property. Maintain the irrigation system as needed. There are opportunities to adopt a garden or a group of trees. Spring planting of new flowers is a major part of this ministry. The Church basement kitchen is one of the most utilized areas in our church, and needs regular cleaning. On a rotating basis, volunteers are assigned a two-week period to clean the Church kitchen. A checklist of task to be completed once during the two-week period is provided. It generally takes about one hour. Once a year, all volunteers will help with a deep cleaning. The purpose of the Photography Ministry is to document events, preserve church history, and communicate the church's activities and spiritual life to the parish and wider community. Photos provide visual content for bulletins, promotional materials, social media, and websites, helping to make the church seem more connected and accessible, share the story of faith, and draw others closer to God. Each year, from April through October, a group of volunteers is responsible for mowing all parish property. Each volunteer must be at least 18 years of age or older and be able to operate a zero turn or push lawn mower a string trimmer and blower. Groups of three to five volunteers are scheduled every two weeks and are responsible to mow and trim all parish property during their assigned two weeks. It usually requires about 2 hours per week (depending on rainfall) and volunteers are assigned one two week period per year. Committee oversees major building and maintenance projects, as well as changing lights, for the parish.
